An Arab man is standing trial in Abu Dhabi for insulting Islam on his Facebook page and a medical report indicated he is suffering from mental problems.
During trial on Tuesday, the judge was shown anti-Islam drawings and writings by the defendant, who confessed to have done them.
“When the judge asked him at a previous session if he has any psychological problems, he replied yes…the judge then decided that the defendant should be medically examined,” Emirat Alyoum daily said.
It said a medical report which was received by the judge on Tuesday showed the man was “not responsible for his acts.”
The judge adjourned trial for sentence on May 1, it added.
