New Delhi: A 26-year-old inebriated man allegedly threw acid on a man and his two minor daughters, injuring them, in west Delhi’s Khyala area.
The incident took place around 10.55 PM yesterday when Deepak, along with his two minor daughters, was about to leave home for a wedding reception, police said.
Police have arrested the accused, Ragho Mukhiya.
Deepak and his daughters — Isha (13) and Bhumi (11) — were admitted to Sehgal Nursing Home in Paschim Vihar.
Deepak sustained 9-10 per cent burn injuries, while Isha and Bhumi suffered 30-40 and 20 per cent burn injuries, respectively.
Deepak, a resident of Vishnu Garden, told police that when they were getting ready to leave for the wedding, he saw Ragho consuming liquor outside the gate of his house.
Deepak asked Ragho to go away, but instead of leaving, he misbehaved and manhandled the complainant.
On hearing the commotion, neighbours came to the spot, but Ragho fled from there.
After 15 minutes, Ragho came back and threw some chemical on Deepak and his two minor daughters.
A case was registered under section 326 A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid, etc) of the IPC, they said.
“During investigation, it was found that Ragho is a labourer. The area was cordoned off and labourers as well as tenants and helpers residing in the area were interrogated,” said a senior police officer.
CCTV footage were analysed.
Nine teams were involved in the investigation and more than 200 persons were interrogated in the case, he said.
The accused was arrested from Khyala village.
The accused told police that he had brought the chemical from the steel and nickel buffing factory where he worked.
