Kolkata, October 19: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today questioned the Centre’s “silence” on her demands for withdrawal of joint forces and dismantling of ‘armed camps’ of the CPI(M) in junglemahal in the state.
“I have repeatedly pleaded with the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister how the CPI(M) has been misusing the joint forces and terrorising innocent villagers, but to no avail.”
“I would like to know why the Centre is silent? I also want to know what the Centre would have done in such an event in Gujarat or some other state. Could the Centre have sat idle if CPI(M) attacks were mounted on Congress workers?” she asked at a press conference here.
Claiming that a population of one lakh was homeless because of ‘CPI(M) terror’, she said, she would not “beg for help to tackle the CPI(M), but will deal with them politically.
