West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday visited Changmari relief camps in Alipurduar district where victims of Assam violence have taken shelter.
“We have escaped from Assam violence and have taken shelter here, many people are still missing. We are very scared. We want the government to finish terrorism completely,” said a victim.
We want to go home. We want the government to provide us basic necessities of food, water and clothing,” added another victim.
Mamata not only met the victims but also distributed clothes.
According to reports, in a fresh incident of violence on Friday, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) (NDFB) (S) militants lobbed a grenade at SSB personnel and exchanged fire with them in Chirang district along the Indo-Bhutan border.
Earlier this week, NDFB (S) militants had killed over 70 people in the Sonitpur, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of Assam. (ANI)
