Kolkata, April 06: The intervention of the Election Commission was today sought in poll bound West Bengal by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee who claimed that the sudden spurt in violence was allegedly at the behest of the CPI(M).
“We have moved the Election Commission seeking its intervention as our candidates and those of the Congress are being attacked while taking out processions by CPI(M) harmads with the help of a section of police officers,” Banerjee told a press conference at her residence.
Stating that a team of Election Commission officials was likely to visit the state either on April 10 or 11 to study the situation, she said peace should be maintained and violence stopped.
“We totally depend on the Election Commission. We believe that the EC will take appropriate action so that we can go ahead with our election schedule peacefully.
