West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today politely refused superstar Shahrukh Khan’s request to dance with him to celebrate Kolkata Night Riders victory at Eden Gardens.
After the KKR players did a victory lap with the IPL trophy round the Eden Gardens stands, Shahrukh went up the dais and began dancing with co-partner Juhi Chawla and Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta to Bengali tunes.
Soon, Shahrukh caught Mamata Banerjee’s eye, went up to her, and took her to the edge of dais to wave to nearly 80,000 thousand screaming fans.
Shahrukh again did an impromptu dance and politely requested Mamata to dance, but she declined. Shahrukh then kissed the top of Mamata’s head in a public display of affection.
As Shahrukh thanked the people of Kolkata for his team’s victory and said : “She (Mamata) has promised that she will dance next time when we win the cup again.
Mamata: No, I didn’t promise. You promised that you will dance here for the next 4 hours. All the best, I want your team to win the cup again next year.
