Mamata leaves for Delhi with Pranab

Kolkata, March 07: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had expressed displeasure over levy of service tax on Railways, tonight accompanied Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on his special flight to Delhi.

Sources said during the journey to Delhi, Banerjee could raise the issue of imposition of service tax on goods transported by the railways.

Banerjee had expressed hope in Parliament on March 4 that Mukherjee would waive the service-tax as he had done the previous year.

A state Congress leader told that with civic elections coming up in Bengal in May-June, “it is possible that seat-sharing between the two alliance partners may come up for discussion between the two leaders.

“Both Congress and Trinamool Congress are determined to ensure that the Left does not get the better of the situation.
