New Delhi, November 27: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee will be back in Singur – this time not to lead an agitation but to lay the foundation stone of a development project for farmers on Sunday.
‘Kisan Vision’ project envisages establishment of production clusters and carrying perishable products like fruits and vegetables from these facilities to consumer centres by special trains.
Mamata had led a farmers’ agitation against Tata’s Nano plant project in Singur which forced the company to withdraw from the state.
The foundation laying ceremony also comes on the back drop of the minister suggesting to set up a coach factory at the land which is yet to be surrendered by Tatas.
The ‘Kisan Vision’ project will be operationalised through public private participation model by Concor, a railway PSU.
