Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government is a ‘corrupt’ one and has no right to stay in power, CPI(M) Politburo member and the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Surjya Kanta Mishra, said today.
“The Mamata Banerjee government is a corrupt government… an enemy of the people and so it has no right to stay in power,” Mishra told reporters following a rally organised by Left parties in the city on the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition.
Left parties organised several rallies in and around the city, raising issues like growing intolerance, restoration of democracy, ban on beef, price hike, etc.
Senior leaders like Left Front chairman Biman Bose and CPI(M) MP Md Salim participated in these rallies.
Slamming Banerjee for the Saradha scam, Salim alleged that BJP and TMC had joined hands to protect the culprits.
“They (TMC) have joined hands with BJP to save themselves from the CBI (in the Saradha case)… This is clear from their (TMC and BJP’s) activities and that is the reason the Chief Minister is going to New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister,” Salim said.
