Kolkata, January 06: Railway minister Mamata Banerjee today slammed the Jessop Company owned by Pawan Ruia for failing to deliver wagons as ordered by her ministry and said that a move to close down the factory “will not be allowed”.
“From the Railways we gave orders to Jessop. But they did not deliver. Why are wagons not being manufactured? If the wagons are not delivered on time, it becomes difficult for us to work,” she said at the foundation laying ceremony of a Metro rake rehabilitation workshop at Dum Dum where Jessop is located.
“There is a plan by someone not to keep the company in operation, but we will not allow it,” she said without elaborating.
She said union minister and Trinamool MP Saugata Roy would talk to representatives of the labour union shortly and submit a report on how the company could be run in a better way.
