Silchar, February 17: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will campaign for the party during the next month’s Assembly elections in Assam, where it is making its maiden electoral foray.
TC general secretary Neelotpal Das told PTI that Banerjee was scheduled to address five public rallies in the state, including two in the Barak Valley at Silchar and Karimganj.
Though the dates of the public meetings were yet to be finalised, it was likely to be held by the month-end, he said.
The party has already announced a first list of 55 candidates, including former minister Bijit Saikia from Tezpur assembly seat and was scheduled to announce a second list soon.
It would contest in 12 of the 15 assembly seats in Barak valley and was confident of winning at least 7 of them, Das added.
