Demanding that Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao bring the mandals in Zone-III to Zone-II under Nagarjuna Sagar Left Bank Canal in Khammam district, Madhira MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has urged the minister to allot water to Bhaktha Ramadasu Project.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Point here on Thursday after the adjournment of the Assembly, along with Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and MLA T Rammohan Reddy, Bhatti said he addressed a letter to the Minister in this regard today. He said the Minister has given an assurance in this regard and warned that they would fight against the government it he failed to allot water to the Zone-III areas.
Stating that Errupalem, Madhira and Vemsoor come under Nagarjuna Sagar Project Left Bank Canal in Zone-III, Bhatti said these mandals were not getting water and the farmers were facing hardships. He urged the State government to transfer these mandals from Zone-III to Zone-II. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said the government was not releasing water to the areas under NSP Left Bank Canal despite assurances. He also asked the State government to release water to protect the standing crops. (NSS)
