TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi has alleged that Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has insulted Telangana Political JAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram by saying that the latter was working on the lines of Congress party agenda. He suggested to Harish Rao to concentrate on solving the problems of the farmers instead of criticizing Congress party and Prof. Kodandaram.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Ravi asked Harish Rao whether he didn’t see Kodandaram participating in Telangana movement. He said Prof. Kodandaram was fighting against the State government on behalf of farmers and was demanding compensation for crop loss.
Mallu Ravi said the Congress provided free power to 27 lakh bore-wells in United AndhraPradesh State in 2004 of which 18 lakh bore wells were in the Telangana region. It was not correct on the part of the Chief Minister to say that the bore well connections applications were in pending for last five years, he said, adding that the Chief Minister was trying to sidetrack the Congress party’s farmers’ signature campaign against the TRS government by announcing that the power connections will be given to 97,000 bore-wells.
TPCC vice-president said there was no demand for cotton, corn and Soya Bean crop in the market. The cotton farmers were getting huge losses due to low demand, he said and demanded that the government make the CCI centers to purchase cotton. He also demanded that the State government release two phase loan waiver at one go to see that the farmers come out from the debts. (NSS)
