Hyderabad: Malinois dog not only took part in the recently conducted US military operation but also chased Baghdadi down a dead-end tunnel underneath his northwestern Syria hideout, where the cornered IS leader detonated a suicide vest, killing himself and two children. After the incident, the dog became the hero of the raid.

It is going to get a White House homecoming next week. The military dog is named ‘Conan’.
After Trump’s tweet, “Thank you Daily Wire. Very cute recreation, but the “live” version of Conan will be leaving the Middle East for the White House sometime next week!”, people started showing interest in knowing everything about Belgian Malinois.
Everything about the breed
The breed is used as a working dog. It can detect explosives, narcotics, etc. It is also used in search and rescue missions.
One of the unique characteristics of Belgian Malinois dogs is that they are great jumpers. Its jump ranges from 4 to 10 feet.
It may be mentioned that Telangana Police is also armed with the breed.
According to the report published in Deccan Chronicle, the dogs are usually deployed with Octopus, Greyhound, etc.
Views about the breed
Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Mr. Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat who had inducted two Belgian Malinois dogs into AP State Police said that they are swift in action.
Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police, Mr. Anjani Kumar said that Belgian Malinois is preferred as it is a swifter version of German Shepherd’s.
He further said that the breed was inducted into Hyderabad City Security Wing after the then US President, Mr. George W. Bush’s visit to the city.
