Male tiger relocated to Sariska

Sariska (Raj), July 20: A young male tiger was today relocated to Sariska from the adjacent Ranthambore national park where it joins three other big cats.

With its release, wildlife officials hope to overcome the ‘sibling factor’ that is said to hamper the breeding programme since they were introduced in the park in the first ever tiger re-location in the country two years ago.

The radio-collared tiger weighing about 200 kg from Ranthambore was released in an enclosure in Sariska by a team of wildlife officials from Rajasthan government and Wildlife Institute of India in the presence of Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh.

“This is beginning for better time for Sariska which lost all its tigers to poachers some years back.
