Male: A blogger, Yameen Rasheed was murdered in the edgy capital city of Maldives. This is the third murder of media personnel in Maldives in the last five years, HT reported.
His family members informed that Yameen was lying in the stairwell, wounded in his neck and chest. He was later declared dead at the hospital on Sunday.
He had a blog ‘The Daily Panic’, which had a good following and the 29-year-old would make fun of the politicians in his blogs. In 2012, a blogger named Ismail Rasheed was also stabbed to death by an unidentified person. Whereas, Ahmed Rilwan, a journalist of Minivan News is being abducted since 2014.
The former president who was exiled, Nasheed demanded an action with the international help against the culprit. Political tension is created in the Maldives after a failed bid by the opposition to challenge the country’s parliamentary speaker last month.
President Abdullah Yameen’s authorities have arrested former Maldives opposition leader not to be in jail or in exile as part of a major government crackdown on rival politicians, who narrowly failed to seize control of parliament.
However, union of opposition parties, conducted by exiled leader Nasheed, is trying to impede Yameen before next year’s election.
