Malaysian national carrying arms held at Karachi airport

Karachi: A Malaysian national has been arrested at the Karachi airport for carrying weapons and ammunition hidden in his luggage and shoes.

Al Muhd Alfie Kqhyriel on Saturday tried to board a Malaysia-bound flight TG-342 while carrying four pistols, eight magazines and 71 bullets hidden in his luggage and shoes, The Express Tribune reported.

He is being suspected of having links with the Islamic State (ISIS) and is currently under investigation by the country’s top intelligence agencies.

“The ASF personnel intercepted a suspicious-looking passenger crossing the security belt at the departure area of the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport. The suspect hesitated when we asked him to remove his shoes and place them on the scanning machine. We arrested him and found pistols and ammunition hidden in his shoes’ cavities and microwave oven,” The Express Tribune quoted Airport Security Force (ASF) senior official Faisal Yaseen as saying.

The Malaysian national had arrived in Karachi on Friday.

Meanwhile, the security forces are reportedly looking for his facilitators and possible comrades within the country. (ANI)
