State Mala Mahanadu president G. Chennaiah here on Friday demanded that all political parties in the State allot majority number of seats for Malas in the ensuing municipal, Zilla Parishad and general elections, otherwise, they will be taught a fitting lesson to the parties which ignored their demand.
Speaking to mediapersons, Chennaiah demanded that all parties in Telangana and Seemandhra States earmark majority number of seats to members of Mala community, otherwise they would show their power of vote during all elections. Stating that Malas constitute 21 per cent in the State’s population, he demanded that apart from the reserved seats, five per cent of general seats should be allotted to them.
The Mala Mahanadu leader also demanded that the ruling parties make Dalits as chief ministers of both Telangana and Seemandhra States. Recalling Supreme Court judgment holding Categorization of Scheduled States as totally irrelevant and unconstitutional, Chennaiah warned that antagonist political parties would bite dust like TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was dislodged from power for mooting categorization of Scheduled Castes in 2004.
Chennaiah said Mala Mahanadu would extend total support to those parties which provide a fair share of MP and MLA seats for the Malas in the ensuing elections in Telangana and Seemandhra regions. The parties which ignored their appeal would be taught a fitting lesson in the ensuing elections, he warned. Mala Mahanadu State committee meeting would be held in the last week of this month to chalk out future programs.
Mala Mahanadu State secretary Janga Srinivas, Mala Vidhyarthi Sangham president Burgula Venkateswarlu, working president Pabbati Srikrishna, Darayobu, Sudhakar, Baindla Srinivas and others were present. (NSS)
