Some residents of Makkah Masjid Muhajirin camp called Siasat office and told that the boundary wall of Makkah Masjid got damaged during demolition of shops by a non Muslim businessman. According to details near an arch of Makkah Masjid located at the Lad Bazar end, a non Muslim businessman is constructing new shops by dismantling old ones. The boundary wall of Makkah Masjid got damaged during the process.
The locals also claim that there was a house of Makkah Masjid Muhajirin camp abutting shops which has been illegally purchased at cut price. However this claim by locals has to be confirmed yet. If the house is sold it would be quite illegal. Since the Muhajirin camp houses are the property of Makkah Masjid and Masjid land is neither sold nor purchased. Muhajirin camp consists of nearly 180 houses of 30 and 50 sqyds each where people reside.
When contacted, both the superintendent of the Makkah Masjid and the District Minority Welfare officer gave diverse statements regarding the number of houses in Muhajirin camp and CEO Waqf Board had no idea regarding that.
Despite a complaint lodged at the police station by Superintendent Makkah Masjid Nayeemuddin, the construction work still continues. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid Bagh-e-Aamma are under the supervision of such department which we can rightly call as “orphan department”. It neither has sufficient staff nor effective management to take care of the historical Masajid.
