Hyderabad, April 29: The historic Makkah masjid building falls into a state of dilapidation thanks to the negligence of state government.
While chemical flooring was carried out on the roof of the historical Makkah masjid 20 years ago, with a guarantee of 5 years, no measures have been taken to protect the roof by carrying out chemical flooring for a second time.
Roads and buildings department had made an estimate of Rs 25 lakh for chemical flooring on the roof of Makkah masjid but even as the water collected on the roof seeps in through, no initiative has been taken so far in this connection.
The state government sanctions a grant in aid of 28 lakh rupees annually for Makkah masjid. But a large part of it being allocated to protection and security of the mosque and other works related to it, there is not much grant left for the renovation and repair of the mosque.
Home guards deployed for the security being given payment from the grant in aid of the mosque, Makkah masjid budget is getting a burden of Rs 18 lakh 25 thousand annually.
While the monthly salary of employees working for the mosque since long is Rs. 4000, the home guards are paid 200 per day.
Peepal plants have grown up between the beautiful turrets of the mosque yet no proper arrangement has been done to weed them out.
