Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast incident completes 9 years, victims await justice, culprits still free

Hyderabad: In the wake of completion of nine years of Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast incident and giving clean chit to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, police has become alert in the city. It has deployed 2000 policemen in South zone of Hyderabad under the stewardship of Ms. Swathi Lakra, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Crimes and SIT).

It may be mentioned that in the Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast incident which occurred on 18th May 2007, five worshippers were killed and many were injured. Police opened fire in which some persons were also killed. Police implicated hundreds of Muslim youths in fake criminal cases. These charges proved wrong after the arrest of Hindu activists and the innocent Muslim youths arrested by the police were exonerated by the court later.

National Investigation Agency had arrested RSS workers, Lokesh Sharma, Devender Gupta, Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Swami Aseemanand, Bharat Mohan Lal Rateshwar alias Bharat Bhai. Two key culprits, Ramchandarkal Singra and Sandeep Dange are still absconding. A reward of Rs. 10 lakh has been offered for their heads. The hearing of Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast Case is going on at the IV Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge. The rescheduling of the hearing of this case will be determined in the month of June. So far, the statements of 72 witnesses including two forensic experts and bomb disposal squad have been recorded.
