Hyderabad: Special Court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) will pronounce judgment on Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast Case on 16th April. In view of this, police made elaborate arrangements in Nampally Criminal Court area. This area has literally been converted into a police cantonment.
It may be mentioned that on 18th May 2007, a bomb blast took place at Makkah Masjid. The hearing of the case was completed last week and IV Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Special Judge for NIA had fixed 16th April for pronouncing the judgment.
Main accused of the bomb blast case Devender Gupta, Lokesh Sharma and Rajinder Chowdary who were also convicted in Dargah Ajmer Shareef Bomb Blast case were given a life sentence. They are in prison now. They have been brought from Ajmer Jail to Hyderabad. They will be presented in Nampally Criminal Court on 16th April under tight security. In view of this, Central Zone Police posted more than 300 policemen around the court area.
DCP of Central Zone, Mr. Vishwa Prasad told that more than 100 constables, 3 ACPs, 10 Inspectors and other police officials have been posted in the area. In addition to it, armed police pickets have also been posted there.
South, West and East Zone Police personnel have also been given instructions to be alert so that any attempt to take out procession rally or dharna could be foiled.
It may be mentioned that in the Makkah Masjid blast, 9 worshippers were killed and 58 were injured. Earlier, CBI was entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the case, later, the case was transferred to NIA.
NIA had arrested Aseemanand, Bharat Bhai and other RSS workers and filed chargesheet against them. The other main accused of the case, Ramchander Kalsangar and Sandeep Dange are still absconding. A red corner notice has been issued by Interpol.
It may be noted that this case was transferred to NIA in 2011. In the case, 10 persons belonging to hardcore Hindutva organizations were named accused, out of which only 5 are facing the trial. The statements of 226 witnesses were recorded and 411 documents were examined in this case.
