Hyderabad, June 21: The two RSS activists Devender Gupta and Lokesh Sharma arrested on the charges of causing blast at Ajmer shrine had infact twice conducted a recce of the Mecca Masjid prior to executing the blast on May 18, 2007.
According to the highly placed sources the duo came to Hyderabad early in May 2007 and reportedly visited Mecca Masjid on May 4 and 11 (Both Fridays) in the guise of students carrying the RDX explosives laden bags and subsequently wanted to plant bombs in the Masjid premises, but they deserted their plan twice as they did not found the atmosphere conducive for carrying out the operation.
The sources further said that on May 18, 2007 after identifying the spot i.e a Takht near the ablution tank in the Masjid the duo allegedly planted a bomb and another bomb was hanged on the grill of the Mecca masjid. While one bomb exploded but the bomb hanged to the grill did not exploded due to mechanism failure.Immediately after planting the bombs at Mecca masjid the duo coolly left Hyderabad by using bus as the mode of transport.
The duo Devender Gupta and Lokesh Sharma allegedly acted (carried out blasts) on the behest of Ramchandra Kalsangra alias Ramji and his associate Sandeep Dange. Kalsangra who emerged as a prime accused in Ajmer and Mecca Masjid blast wanted to take the revenge of Varanasi Sankatmochan Temple blast that took place in March 2007. The RSS men assumed were ascertained that the Muslim terrorists carried out the said blast.
The sources said that the bombs that were used in Ajmer and Mecca Masjid blast case were assembled at Kalsangra’s native place at Indore. After the arrest of Devender Gupta by the Rajasthan ATS the RSS is believed to have suspended him from the organization. Gupta was zilla pracharak of the Sangh’s Giridih unit in Jharkhand and in charge of six districts.
Gupta, who operated in the name of Ramesh Kumar at some places, procured SIM cards under false identities from Jamtada, Asansol and Chittaranjan. He procured the SIM used in the bomb that went off at Ajmer Dargah in name of Babulal Yadav.But surprisngly the SIM card recovered from the unxploded bomb at Mecca Masjid was also procured in the name of Babu lal yadav the sources added.
