Makka Masjid repairs: Fake claims of construction work

Hyderabad: The construction and repair works pertaining to Makka Masjid are being done with a slow pace. This has resulted in increasing confusion among the residents of the area.

It may be mentioned that TS Govt. had allocated Rs 8.48 crore for carrying out repair work but so far, only Rs 3 crore were released. In view of this, the contractors lost interest.

The officials of the Govt. and Wakf Board have been issuing statements after inspecting the repair works that the work is going on smoothly which in false.

The interesting thing is that the officials of Archaeological Survey of India have kept the higher official in the dark about the quality of the repair work.

In view of these circumstances, it is quite likely that this work might continue for another year, although the officials of Minority Welfare Department are claiming that the work would be completed within a period of 6 to 8 months.

It may be mentioned that in September 2017, this work was entrusted to Archaeological Survey of India with a condition that this assignment should be completed in eighteen (18) months but even after the lapse of two years, there are no signs of its completion in the near future.

It is reported that this work was allotted to two contractors of Mumbai. They complained that their bills are not being paid regularly.

If the status of the repair work is reviewed, It will be noticed that out of 15 bridges, the repair work pertaining to only for 3 bridges was completed in six months. The work pertaining to 6 more bridges was started yesterday which is likely to continue for six months.

It is reported that due to insufficient staff in Archaeological Dept., the officers are not able to concentrate on Makka Masjid.

GHMC sanctioned Rs. 99.5 Lakh for the construction of Sulabh Complex but even after the lapse of six months, this works has not yet been started.
