Make ‘Swatchata Hi Sewa’ a public movement: Governor

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said that everyone should respond to the ‘Swatchata Hi Sewa’ call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and make construction of toilets a public movement.

The Governor was speaking after laying foundation stone for an e-toilet at NTR Gardens on Tuesday. The e-toilet is being constructed by the GHMC as part of the mission to construct 100  e-toilets for the exclusive use of women. Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya and GHMC Mayor B. Ram Mohan also participated. GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy explained to the Governor that the e-toilet pre-fabricated structure will come up at the place and will be ready for use within one week.

Narasimhan evinced keen interest on the functioning of e-toilets and wanted to visit an e-toilet which is already constructed and being used. On the suggestion of the GHMC Commissioner visited the e-toilet constructed and being used at Ameerpet. The Governor observed the functioning of the coin-operated e-toilet and expressed satisfaction. He also visited the AC toilets constructed and maintained by GHMC in the same vicinity.

The Governor further said that steps should be taken to ensure that the entire Telangana State becomes open defecation-free by year-end. (INN
