Make sub-inspectors as gazetted officers demanded

The TRS Government was urged to fulfill the promise of making the post of Sub-Inspectors to the rank of gazetted officers besides enhancing their daily allowances when drafted for bandobust duties during the legislature session.

This plea was made in the Telangana Assembly during zero hour today by the YSRCP member Venkateshwarlu who reminded the government that that the ruling party had made a promise during the agitation for separate Telangana to make SI post to that of gazetted rank. He regretted that though the Telangana State was achieved and the TRS came to power, the promise remained unfulfilled.

The member also pointed out that the allowances being paid to the SIs and constables on bandobust duties during the legislature session were very meager and also their stiching charges for uniforms was very little. He demanded that these should be enhanced forthwith.

Minister for Legislature Affairs K. Harish Rao pointed out that as a matter of fact the conditions in police station even for want of stationary were very pitiable during the earlier regimes. The TRS Government has already initiated required measures to set things right and ensuring that each police station in towns were provided with a budget allocation of Rs.50,000 for stationary etc in towns and Rs.25,000 in rural police stations. Similarly the government would look into the issues raised by the member and take required steps in the direction, he added.(NSS)
