Hyderabad, April 07: To apply make-up to 100 classical dance artistes and that too in 100 minutes can be quite a task for even the best of make-up artists. It includes cleaning the face with a wet cloth, applying face cream, foundation, eyeshade, kohl, lipstick and much more.
Quite an elaborate process, one may wonder.
However, Kuppa Srikanth Goud, himself a trained dancer and dance teacher by profession, achieved the milestone on Friday, by applying make-up to 100 classical dancers (103 dancers to be precise) in 100 minutes, to register a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Srikanth Goud started the event at Ravindra Bharathi by dancing to the song, Gurur Brahma. He then started applying make-up on artistes at 10 a.m. Initially, there was a slight anxiety if he could do it, as after 56 minutes, he had barely completed the work on 42 artists and after 60 minutes, only 45 artistes.
Then, he gathered speed and at 11.30 a.m, 87 artistes were ready. Exactly after 97 minutes, he completed his feat of applying make-up on 100 dancers. Since three more minutes were still left, he added make-up on three more, bringing the total to 103, and creating a new record.
When asked how he managed to apply make-up on 55 dancers in the last 40 minutes, Srinivas Goud replied it was his dedication.
When questioned why some dancers where not having ‘parani’ on their feet and ‘ardha chandrakaram bottu’, he replied that the former was not required in certain dance forms but put to only add beauty and that the latter was not required in Bharatnatyam.
The artistes who participated in the record-making feat are all students of Uma Devi, Padma Kalyan, Ramesh Babu, Radha, Vani and Narsing Rao among others. They are learning various disciplines like Bharatnatyam, Andhra Pradesh Natyam and Kuchipudi.
Srikanth Goud has reportedly taken permission from the Guiness Book of Records website. The video of his record and other proofs will be sent for their approval. He has also entered the Indian records with his feat.
