Hyderabad, July 26: Referring to the `mistakes’ committed by him in the past both inside and outside the Assembly, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy today advised the newly-elected Congress MLAs not to resort to usage of `unparliamentary or harsh’ words in the House. “I too had made some mistakes in the past both inside and outside the House. I have learnt out of experience.
I want you to behave in a dignified manner and make proper use of the opportunity given by the people.Party’s prestige is dependent on the behaviour of the members,’’ he noted. The Chief Minister, in his inaugural address at the twoday orientation programme to ruling party MLAs organised by the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) at Dr MCR HRD Institute, asked the members to
be patient even when the Opposition members provoke. He urged them to take the session seriously and raise problems faced by the people. He stressed the need of improving their credibility among the people. “Survival will become a problem even if people’s problems are not resolved. Do not give importance to self-interests. Make efforts to take programmes and welfare schemes implemented by the Government to people’s reach. One should not lose patience even if the Opposition provokes them in the Assembly. Don’t forget
that people are watching the House proceedings and Government’s performance, ’ ’ he warned. He asked them to learn about Assembly rules and procedures and functioning of the House.
The members should act like a bridge between the Government and the party. Each member should ensure that they ttend the House without fail.
On this occasion, Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas has cautioned the members asking them to attend the House regularly since the Opposition was strong as compared to the past. The members have the responsibility to protect the Government and not to give scope for the Opposition to put the Government in trouble if there was no quorum in the
House, he added. Finance Minister K Rosaiah, Deputy Speaker N Manohar, former Assembly Speaker KR Suresh Reddy and others were also present.
