Hyderabad, March 29: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday wanted the Centre and the Enforcement Directorate to make public the names allegedly mentioned by businessman Hasan Ali Khan who is facing money laundering charges.
At a press conference, Mr. Naidu was referring to Mr. Ali allegedly taking the names of a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and a star-turned-politician and wondered why the names were not being revealed. There were reports about names of AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her political secretary Ahmed Patel too figuring in the list. People should know who were behind him, he said. He said Mr. Ali would not have amassed unaccounted wealth of Rs.36,000 crore without the help some influential people during the last seven years when Congress-led Government was in power at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh. What were the Enforcement Directorate and other authorities doing all this time? Till the Supreme Court intervened, the Centre was not even prepared to initiate any action, he said.
The UPA Government had become synonymous with corruption with one scam after another coming to light from allotment of 2G spectrum, Commonwealth Games, and now Hasan Ali’s unaccounted money, he said.
