The Telangana government announced that it has decided to celebrate the state’s formation day on June 2 on a “grand scale”.
Speaking on video conference on Wednesday, Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma has directed all the district collector and principal secretaries of various departments to make necessary arrangements to make Telangana Formation Day a big bang.
The first anniversary of the state’s Formation Day will be celebrated on June 2 at Parade Ground Secunderabad in a grand manner from June 2 to 7.
The celebrations will begin with the hoisting of national flag in all the district headquarters, municipalities, and gram panchayats. In the state capital, the celebrations would be held between 9.30 am and 11.30 am at the Parade Grounds.
To mark the Formation Day celebrations, a fireworks display will be held on the night of June 2 at 8 pm at People’s Plaza, instead of June 1, and the concluding celebrations will be held on June 7 by Telangana Samskritika Varadhi volunteers, the chief secretary said.
Artists would perform various programmes to highlight the Telangana history, culture and traditions. Telangana “shoba yatra” will also be held in Hyderabad and districts on the occasion.
He directed the officials to illuminate important locations like Necklace Road, Hussainsagar, traffic signals, Lumbini Park, metro pillars, and all government offices. Sharma said the Telangana logo should be displayed at all shops and establishments.
All sections of the society are gearing up to celebrate Telangana formation day on a grand scale in the district.
