Former President Dr Abdul Kalam today said the country would become green if the 15-crore children planted ten saplings each in the country.
Dr Kalam was speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Best Environment Protection Awards’ function organized by the Centre for Environment here on Monday.
Stating the country was facing pollution as one of the main problems, Dr Kalam felt there was only way to check pollution by planting saplings and make the country green. He said that every citizen was realizing dangers of pollution and taking active part in protecting trees and plant saplings. He said that he was working for protection of environment since last ten years.
Centre for Environment representatives expressed happiness that Environment Ambassador of India Dr Kalam presented environment awards to the winners. He presented the awards to best schools along with prize money of Rs 10,000 on behalf of the organization.
Dr Kalam also inaugurated the stalls organized by the district organizations. Dr Kalam planted a sapling at the Marri Chennareddy Human Resource Development Centre. (NSS)
