Majority of Minority communities deprived of legal aid

(Siasat News) Mr. Mohammed Murtuza, Social Activist, submitted a petition to A.P. State Minorities Commission complaining about the illegal detention of youths belonging to Minorities communities without submitting charge sheets by the police. They are also deprived of legal aid.

On the basis of his application, Minorities commission sort the details from D.G.P. of prisons and Correctional Services about the persons detained in various jails. In accordance with this request D.G.P. Prisons submitted the details of 125 cases.

Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman of Minorities Commission has decided to constitute a committee to suggest to provide legal aid and relief to the prisoners. It was decided that Dept. of Police would be instructed to file charge sheets in respect of 92 cases which has been pending from the past 6 months to 1 years. These charge sheets should be submitted within a month so that the prisoners could get justice from the court. It was also decided to visit various jails and to get the details about the treatment that is being giving to the prisoners as per the jail manual.
