New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted 19 new faces in his Council of Ministers, Deputy Leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma on Wednesday termed it “unimpressive”, adding that the reshuffle would not make any difference since the government failed to deliver on its promises.
“Overall it’s unimpressive, it’s not going to make any material difference when it comes to the performance of a non-performing government which has failed to deliver on its promises, which has betrayed the people,” said Sharma.
He criticised the government, saying the majority of the Cabinet Ministers are clueless about the policy and work the government.
“Most of his (PM) colleagues either have no functional autonomy over comprehension of issues involved. These are just faces. He is populating the Council of Ministers with a handful of ministers, while the others are clueless about (government’s) policies and works,” he added.
With regards to Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, Sharma said the opposition is more receptive in passing important constitutional amendment bills.
“We know the duty of opposition. We are a responsible opposition, that’s why Parliament has enacted more laws and passed important constitutional amendments in the last two years than what happened in the previous seven-eight years, which is in fact a loud statement.”
The GST Bill will be taken up during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which commences from July 18 and will go on till August 12.(ANI)
