‘Elders and religious scholars are highly revered among Muslims, I came to know that you people have a very good system of resolving marital disputes and the solution is sought from the Islamic scholars. Despite that majority of the cases of marital disputes in south zone area are of Muslims. Even though Islam has a perfect family system, the marital disputes among Muslim couples surprises me.’ These are the words of Madhavi Lata, inspector women police station, Ghansi Bazaar, who is fed up of resolving marital disputes among Muslim couples.
South zone has only one women police station at Ghansi Bazaar, where one inspector, a sub inspector, an assistant sub inspector and 32 constables are deployed, of which one ASI and 2 constables are Muslims. A large number of burqa-clad women are seen outside the police station who approach the PS to register complaints against their husband.
Madhavi told that 95 percent of the cases in the police station are of Muslims. Chandrayangutta has the highest number of cases followed by Barkas, Talab Katta and Nawab Saheb Kunta. Madhavi told that she has heard that Islamic law has every solution of family problem, right from the marriage to marital disputes. Despite that Muslim women head for police station which is quite surprising.
