Bhopal, April 25: A major train accident was averted due to the automatic loop line system near Barkheda railway station about 60 kilometres from here on Sunday at 11.28 am.
Sources said that Jaipur-Secunderabad holiday special train (TN-09736) was overspeeding when it reached the break checking points between Barkheda and Midghat ailway stations at 11:28 am. Since it was overspeeding, the train went into the loop line due to automatic loop line system.
On the other hand, sources in the Railways said that the incident occurred due to break failure. The sources said that there may be the chances of sabotage because some of the passengers of the general bogie were seen tampering the angle cock of the train.
Later, a train engine was sent to the spot from Bhopal with a driver and then the train came on the main line.
The passengers have to face various difficulties because it took about 4 hours after which the train came on track.
Railway sources said that a five-member inquiry committee of senior Railway officials has been constituted for investigating the entire matter.
The committee comprises Ashok Kumar (senior signal safety officer), DL Meena (senior electrical engineer), Shailesh Khandelwal (senior signal officer), Mahesh Agarwal (senior mechanical engineer) and AK Agnihotri.
Other trains delayed by the incident were Jaipur-Secunderabad Express by 4 hours 30 minutes, Amritsar-Dadar by 2 hours and 30 minutes, Jhelum express by three hours and Kushi Nagar expresss which got impacted by 3 hours.
