Hyderabad, January 10: A major fire broke out at a laboratory of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) in Tarnaka area here tonight, though no one was injured in the incident, officials said.
The fire was caused due a short-circuit that occurred in the Discovery Laboratory of the IICT and spread from the ground floor of the building to the first floor, a fire brigade official said.
“We got a call at 4.53 pm on the fire incident. Five fire-tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was controlled in about an hour,” Regional Fire Officer G V Narayana Rao, told PTI adding scientists and other staff were rescued even as the blaze engulfed the building.
