Major churches seek security

Hyderabad, December 31: The National Congress of Indian Christians (NCIC) today urged the Home Minister and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to provide security at major churches in the City on December 31 night. They also wanted the police to patrol on major roads during the night as the Christians will be participating in `Night Service’.

In a release, NCIC president CA Daniel Adams said that Christians in the twin cities will offer special prayers on the eve of New Year. Pointing out that eveteasers and anti-social elements may pose problems for the women returning from the churches after the prayers.

Daniel requested for security near major churches including SPG Church at Secunderabad Station road, Wesley and Baptist Churches at the Clock Tower, St Mary’s Church at SD road, and St John’s Church in Secunderabad area. He also urged for security at Baptist Church at Narayanguda, Wesley Church at Musheerabad, MB church, Hebron’s Church at Golconda cross roads, Methodist Church at Chapal road, Wesley Church at Ramkoti and Lutheran Church at Lakdikapul in Hyderabad area.
