Jerusalem, March 23: A loud explosion near the Central bus stand rocked Jerusalem on Wednesday killing at least seven and injuring more than 35, police said. It is being said that the blast was caused by a Palestinian suicide bomber.
The blast seems to be in response to the major policy shift announced by Israeli government which said that govt would seize and hold Palestinian lands until the “terror attacks stop.”
Scores of ambulances accompanied by police and rescue workers converged at the site of blast which was near a city conference hall in a Jewish neighborhood of downtown Jerusalem.
All of the casualties have been evacuated to the Hadassah Hospital in Ein Karem.
The entrance to the city has been closed. Security forces were combing the area for other suspicious packages or objects.
Jerusalem has been hit by a number of terror attacks over the last few years, two of them involving tractor drivers that ploughed down a central street. The last bombing involving a bus in the capital was in 2004.
