Majlis corporator Rain Bazaar division, Khaja Bilal Ahmed surrendered before Nampally criminal court in connection with 5 cases that were registered against him in November last year in Bhagya Laxmi Mandir controversy case. According to details Rain Bazaar police had registered 5 different cases against Khaja Bilal after communal violence in November 2012. The cases had been handed over to Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The corporator was declared as key accused in the cases and was shown absconding. Corporator’s advocate M A Azeem filed a petition before 14th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate on which the court sent Khaja Bilal into 14 day judicial custody and shifted him to Cherlapally jail.
It must be noted that following communal violence near Charminar, SIT has booked several cases in which 4 more Majlis Corporator are said to be absconding.
