Main Tujhe Dekhe Bina Nahin Jaoongi, Ailing Mother Tells Chhota Shakeel

Mumbai, January 03: Fugitive underworld don Chhota Shakeel is helpless. His ailing mother wants to meet him one last time before she dies but he can’t come to India as the security agencies are lying in wait for him, reports DNA.

The report said, according to a telephonic conversation between the don and his mother — it was tapped by the Mumbai crime branch — Shakeel was moved by his mother’s plea but expressed his helplessness.

“It was a phone call which exposed how helpless the fugitive criminal is. When his own mother needs him the most, he cannot help her or be with her,” said a crime branch officer. Shakeel’s mother has been admitted to a city hospital following prolonged illness.

In the phone call, which was intercepted last month, the mother is heard pleading with Shakeel. “Main tujhe dekhe bina nahin jaoongi” (I will not die before I see you once), she told the don.

“It seemed Shakeel was moved by the plea because there was a pause before he spoke,” the officer said. He then told his mother that he could not fulfill her wish because it was impossible for him to come to Mumbai to see her in their Dongri home. It is also not possible for his mother to travel to where she is because of her ill-health,” the officer said.

“Shakeel, however, promised to full fill his mother’s wish by sending his latest photograph by e-mail,” the officer added.

It seems unlikely that Shakeel will send his latest photo because that is risky. Intelligence agencies do not have any recent photo of Shakeel and he wouldn’t risk that, the officer said. The photographs and video footages of Shakeel which security agencies in India have are more than a decade old.

In the conversation, Shakeel was found giving tips to his mother on how to improve her health. “He seemed worried about her health and the fact that he is so far away from her makes him feel helpless,” the officer added.

According to the crime branch sources, like his other gang members in the city, Shakeel is in constant touch with his family and regularly keeps himself updated about their well-being.
