Main accused arrested in Laxmipet incident of Jun 12

Central Investigating Department (CID) team today arrested Botsa Vasudeva Naidu, the main accused in the ghastly incident at Laxmipet in Srikakulam district in which five dalits were killed in land related issue on June 12.

Botsa Vasudeva Naidu, who was absconded since the incident, was arrested by the CID at his nephew’s residence in the city. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) had identified 65 accused in the incident so far. The State Humen Right Commission had already directed Director General of Police and Chief Secretary to submit a detailed report on the incident by July 4. Meanwhile, Dalitha Mahasabha had decided to stage ‘Chalo Srikakulam’ on July second and ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ on July 17 in protest against the Government’s attitude in shielding the perpetrators of Laxmipet massacre and its failure to do justice to the dalit families.
