Maid nabbed, Rs 26 lakh worth gold ornaments recovered

The Chikkadpally Crime Team of Central Zone has arrested a servant maid Dharmarapu Mamatha, 19, and recovered gold ornaments all worth Rs 26 lakh from her possession.

Police said the accused, a native of Gopalagiri village under Thorrur mandal of Warangal district, has been working as a maid in the house of complainant M. Shanthi Devi of H. No. 1-2-593/5 in Gaganmahal, Domalguda. On February 22, the accused committed theft of gold ornaments and cash of Rs 30,000 and concealed them at her house.

On March 2, on receipt of a complaint from M. Shanthi Devi, the Chikkdapally police registered a case under 380 IPC and took up investigation. When interrogated, the accused confessed to the crime and the police recovered one bangle studded with Kempulu worth Rs 10 Lakhs, Kempulu Pachalu necklace worth Rs 10 lakhs, diamond-studded ring worth Rs 5 lakhs, gold ring worth Rs 30,000, a pair of Pachala duddulu worth Rs 50,000 and cash of Rs 22,000 all worth Rs 26 lakhs.

P. Balvanthaiah, Detective Inspector of Police, Chikkdapally with his team under the direct supervision of M. Ram Mohan Rao, Addl. DCP, Central Zone, under the able guidance of J. Narsaiah, ACP Chikkadapally Division, under the supervision of N.L.N. Raju, Inspector of Police, Chikkdapally PS made tactful efforts and detected the case and recovered stolen property. (NSS)
