MUMBAI: After keeping mum for too long, popular Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has finally broken her silence on her leaked pictures of smoking with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor in September.
Replying to a question – by a TV reporter – at the trailer launch of her upcoming film, ‘Verna’, Khan said that she had learnt her lesson and will be more careful in the future as the media is everywhere these days.
“I am a very careful person otherwise. People ask me that I do not do this in films (perhaps referring to smoking), I say I do not want to. Why should I do anything to show the world?” Mahira told Samaa TV.
About meeting Ranbir Kapoor, the ‘Raees’ star added, “It is my personal life and it is very normal for a boy and girl to hang out.”
“Nowadays, (the) media is not only present at events but everywhere. So, I have learnt from it (the incident),” she said.
Soon after the photograph of Mahira and Ranbir spotted taking a smoke break outside a hotel in New York went viral over social media, a lot of people started slamming the actress for smoking and wearing a short backless dress.

Shortly after the pictures surfaced online and was trolled over social media, Pakistani actors like Ali Zafar, Humaima Malick, Mawra and Urwa Hocane have lent support to actress Mahira Khan.
Even Kapoor came to her defence.
An earlier meeting between the two stars also made headlines, when they met at a Dubai awards ceremony this year.
Mahira is all set to wow audiences with her performance in Pakistani filmmaker par genius, Shoaib Mansoor’s ‘Verna’, set to release on November 17 this year.
