New Delhi: Homegrown auto major Mahindra and Mahindra on Monday reported an 18.74 per cent increase in tractor sales to 21,386 units last month.
The company had sold 18,011 units in April 2015.
Domestic tractor sales grew 21.74 per cent to 20,704 units in April as against 17,006 units in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.
Exports during the month declined 32.13 per cent to 682 units compared with 1,005 units a year ago, it added.
M&M president and chief executive-farm equipment and two-
wheeler division Rajesh Jejurikar said that with the forecast of a normal monsoon for this year, the company is hoping that improved market sentiments would drive the demand in the next few months.
At 2:14 p.m., shares in M&M were trading 0.54 per cent higher at Rs 1,339 apiece on the BSE, whose benchmark Sensex index was down 0.56 per cent.
