Mahesh Bhatt talks with Siasat at length

Hyderabad, August 06 (Siasat News): Eminent film maker and social activist Mahesh Bhatt said that if the country’s judiciary would be religion based, then it is definitely very dangerous for the country.

Moreover, the people would lose all faiths on the agencies that implement different laws at different times.

Speaking exclusively to Siasat, Bhatt expressed his displeasure over the withdrawal of mcoca in cases of Malegaon blasts accused. He gave a good example and said that if a snake has entered our house, we should not switch off the lights and presume that the snake had left.

This is what happening in our country nowadays. Whatever Maharashtra’s ATS has done for the accused, this doubt turns into a reality. He also said that there is no provision suspecting the judiciary as this responsibility lies with the government.

Malegaon blasts case was a vital and important case. Police should have approached the court with vital and concrete evidences. But alas! It was not to be. Government should admit its negligence and accept that ATS did not execute its duties up to the mark.

After the exit of M/s Hemant Karkare and Vijay Salaskar, the working style of ATS has undergone drastic change. On the subject of double standard of the police over terrorist activities, the renowned film maker said that it as clear as a bright day that police do its level best to collect the ‘required’ evidences when the accused is a Muslim.

On the other hand in case of col. Purohit and Sadhvi, our so-called ATS had adopted a weak method to weaken the case in the court itself.

Thus the court had no other option but to withdraw mcoca. It is said that the court only sees that whatever is being presented to it. (Kanoon andha hota hai).

If government of Maharashtra feels its inability to present the case strongly, it could challenge the verdict of the court against the withdrawal of mcoca.

He advised Muslim brethren that they should not feel embarrassed as they have equal rights on this country as any other community has.

He referred the recent incident of actor Emraan Hashmi where he was denied a flat in Mumbai’s posh Pali Hill area because of his religion and said that this was a bitter fact and such incidence should brought to the full public eye.

If revelation of a bitter fact labels him as traitor, he would continue to do so in future too. Whatever happened to Emraan is not far from the fact. Earlier, Shabana Azmi, Amer Khan and Zeenat Aapa (Zeenat Aman) were also subjected to this kind of discrimination.
