Mahatma Gandhi’s Death Anniversary: Hindu Mahasabha celebrates, recreates his assassination

Aligarh [UP]: On 30th December 2019, when the entire nation was observing the 71st anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom, few persons were seen celebrating the day as “Shaurya Divas”.

According to the report published in India Today, in UP, National Secretary of Hindu Mahasabha, Puja Shakun Pandey celebrated the day by shooting at an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi.

In the video which went viral on social media, one can see how ‘blood’ started oozing out of the effigy after she shot at it.

It is also reported that she has distributed the sweets among supporters and Hindu Mahasabha members.

It may be noted that Nathuram Godse who killed Mahatma Gandhi on 30th January 1948 was associated with Hindu Mahasabha.

According to the report published in NDTV, in a photo which was shared by Pooja Shakun Pandey on 19th March 2017, she can be seen with former Madhya Pradesh CM, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister, Uma Bharti.

Talking to media persons, she said that assassination of Mahatma Gandhi will be recreated every year same as burning of Raavan on Dussehra.

Police took action and registered cases against 13 persons including Pooja Shakun Pandey.

Reacting on the incident, Ms. Shehla Rashid tweeted, “Pooja Shakun Pandey, the Hindu Mahasabha leader who recreated Gandhi’s assassination by shooting at #Gandhi’s effigy (and spilling mock blood), and also garlanded Gandhi’s murderer Godse’s photo, posing for pictures with top BJP leadership. #NotSoFringe”.
