Maharana Pratap was really great not Akbar who was an outsider: Governor of Rajasthan

Kalyan Singh, Governor of Rajasthan while addressing a gathering on the life of Bhamasha who was a close aide of Maharana Pratap told that Maharana Pratap was a really great hero and suffix “great” should be added to his name dropping it from Akbar’s. He further told that Akbar did not do any service to the country.

Bhamasha had donated a lot of money to help Rana Pratap to rebuild his army to fight against the Moghals.

It may be remembered that Union Home Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh had also made a similar remark on 18th May on the occasion of unveiling of statue of Maharana Pratap in Pratapnagar district of Rajasthan when he said, “If Akbar is great, so is the Maharana”.

Mr. Kalyan Singh lamented that school textbooks do not mentioned the greatness of Maharana Pratap whereas they are full of descriptions of Akbar claiming him to the great ruler. He asked the Minister of Education, Vasudev Devnani to include the chapters on the greatness of Maharana Pratap. The Educataion Minister assured that the lessons in History textbooks about Akbar’s greatness would be removed and the courage and honesty of Maharana Pratap would be included.

Mr. Kalyan Singh also mentioned that Maharana Pratap spent a lot of time living in the forest and eating grass chapattis when he was defending the motherland. This sacrifice should be mentioned in the textbook. He also suggested that the statues of Maharana Pratap and Bhamashah should be erected so that our younger generation takes inspiration from their lives.
