Mahakali Jathara committee to invite PM to take part in festival

The Sri Mahankali Jathara Ummadi Devalayala Uregimpu Committee of Greater Hyderabad on Saturday decided to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the “Ashada Bonalu Jathara” scheduled to begin in Hyderabad on July 10 and concludes on August 1.

             

The committee, which met here on Saturday and discussed about the arrangements for the annual festival, said the Bonalu festival will begin on July 10 at Sri Jagadambika temple atop Golconda fort. Later, the Bonalu will continue in Secunderabad at Sri Mahakali temple at General Bazar and Balkampet Yellamma temple on July 24 and 25. The Bonalu festival will conclude in the Old City at Sri Simhavahini Mahakali temple on August 1.

           

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, the committee leader said as part of the Bonalu festivities, Abhisekham, Dwajarohanam and Kalashastapanam will be performed on July 22 followed by Laksha Phalarchana to Sri Mahakali  Matha on July 23. Ghata stapana will be held on July 24 followed by Laksha Bilwarchana to Ammavaru on July 25 followed by Deepotsavam on July 26, Shakambari puja on July 27, Laksha Pushparchana on July 28, Laksha Kumkumarchana on July 29, Nava Chandi Vahanam, Thottela on July 30, Bali harana, Devi Mahabhishekam and Bonalu samarpana on July 31, Ashtadalapada Padmaradhana, Potharaju swagatham, Rangam-Bhavishyavani and procession will be held on August 1.

           

The Bonalu utsava committee leaders have decided to go to Delhi to extend an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the festival. They also  decided to offer “Bonalu” to Sri Kanakadurga Ammavaru atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada in cooperation with the Telangana government to give a message of unity and prosperity to people of the two Telugu States. They also decided to declare a week in Ashada Masam (July) as Health Awareness Week to caution the people about the seasonal diseases occurring due to atmospheric changes. (NSS)
