Mahabubnagar Dist ahead in developmental schemes: DK Aruna

Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister DK Aruna today said the state Government will develop Mahabubnagar District by taking up developmental schemes. Addressing a gathering after unfurling the tricolor at police parade grounds here she said under ‘Jalayagnam’ scheme, the district had taken up four projects at an estimated cost of Rs 8000 crore to irrigate 8 lakhs acres of land. This year steps have been taken to irrigate 2.33 lakh acres of land in the first phase.

Referring to the implementation Micro Irrigation project, she said the district stood first in the state during 2011-12 in this respect. This year under the scheme 16,416 hectares of land has been brought under drip sprinkler cultivation at a cost of Rs. 99.61 crore.

Under MGNREGS scheme during 2012-13, 5.82 lakh agricultural labourers belonging to 3 lakh families were provided work spending about 194 crore, so far. UNI
