Khammam, January 04: Manya Seema is getting ready to organise Maha Simhagarjana at the junior college grounds in Bhadrachalam on February 13 demanding creation of separate state for tribals.
Speaking to Express over phone from Manugur today, committee state convener Chanda Lingaiah said creation of a separate tribal state was a long pending demand. Over 1.5 lakh tribals from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Maharashtra and Jharkhand would be mobilised for Maha Simhagarjana. Many tribal leaders from the five states would attend the meeting.
Palle Baata, a padayatra, would be organised in 11 districts of the state from January 6 to February 6 to mobilise tribals’ support for their demand for separate statehood.
During the Padayatra, village committees would be set up to create an awareness among tribals about the need for creation of a separate state for them. The Padayatra to be organised under the aegis of district committees of the organisation, would cover each and every tribal hamlet, he said.
Lingaiah said tribal areas could not be separated from a state without appointing a commission to elicit the views of tribals.
The committee would also fight for creation of Manya Seema through legal means, he said.
